On Anti-Clicktatvism

Since community organization died back in the 70’s, and revival of the much needed form of human activity is hampered precisely by the forces that keep us poor FN-1 enough we have to work-as-a-neoslave all waking hours just to be able to pay rent and eat, so that we cannot organize and still sleep at night — we are 𝔇𝙤𝔬𝔪𝐞𝙙 unless we escape neoslavery, which for so many people equates to being willing to live a less comfy life. In other words, if one cannot see how the cause of both hamperings (starvation, cold in the winter, and lack of community organizing) are entangled, then for you there’s probably no un-entangling them. But we others must therefore un-entangle them to escape from the poverty traps, if not for ourselves then for our proverbial grandkids, even the relative poverty trap that the middle class bourgeoisie think they are not deeply trapped within.

Hey, why is it you yupoies had to think twice before starting a family, and then probably decided it was not worth it after the third thinking about it? Not worth “suffering” the most wonderful thing in life? FN-2

Big Numbers

Reaching into my Cynical Basket, not too far, somewhere on the surface layers, I pull out the thought why I do not do much Clicktavism.

  • I do not think it is just because it is ineffective. Every Click counts, and I think there are studies, or at least advocates, who say a little support goes a long way, when millions are supporting to say a $0.1 equivalent.
  • The reason I do not Clickavate too much is because too many online Lefties are not worth it — because they are regurgitating ℜ𝖊𝔦𝖈𝔥-𝔚𝖎𝔫𝖌 𝖙𝔞𝖑𝔨𝖎𝔫𝖌 𝖕𝔬𝖎𝔫𝖙𝔰! And it’s not just online breadtube. Just the other day I saw on my brother’s Netflix promos a Japanese or Korean dramadoc about a “bootcamp” teacher (very handsome clean cut heart-throb type), and the promo was this dude all 𝔯𝖎𝔤𝖍𝔱𝖜𝔦𝖓𝔤 Gung Fu — “You all realize the tax payer paying for you slackers getting upskilled would be ill if they saw the results, would you be willing to pay for the education of the guy standing next to you?”
  • You should try to find an outfit worthy of the slim few minutes a day you can read an article and Clicktivate it.
  • An exception is a huge podcast or channel that gains 100K views. I will give them a comment or two pointing out how ꕷꖡꖹꘝꕯꕒ they are repeating ℜ𝖊𝔦𝖈𝔥-𝔚𝖎𝔫𝖌 𝖙𝔞𝖑𝔨𝖎𝔫𝖌 𝖕𝔬𝖎𝔫𝖙𝔰, and on occasion although I know it puts people off reading (defeating the purpose, but “oh well!”) I will point out how 𝖍𝖔𝖗𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖉𝖔𝖚𝖘𝖑𝖞ƴ ꕷꖡꖹꘝꕯꕒ they have been. Even if only one single one of them realizes this, my efforts throwing electrons & photons down the wires & fibres will have been worthwhile.

To be a bit encouraging and not too afflicted with grumpy Grumbinitus FN-3 I would say,

Just do whatever you can for heavens sake, even if you can only attend one public gathering a year. If everyone good does, that’s an awful lot of good, as in very awful for the gazillionaires and rentiers.

Is this the greatest negligence of “The Left”? The utter lack of appreciation of the power of big numbers.

Get Out of Comfort Zones?

Community Organization probably means a fair few millions of people will have to sacrifice and live outside of their narrow comfort zones. Part of the trick of this, if you are fortunate to be a bit “spartan” (modern sense, WordNet meanings 2,4) is to be very uncomfortable having lots of government scorepoints in your bank account, or safe deposit, or under the couch or bed, or wherever. The more you spend on the poor, the better off and more comfortable you will be, because real comfort is in the heart and soul, not the fingers and toes and other body parts that might be freezing in winter as your fluffy duvet slides off one end of the bed as you toss & turn in your sleep. Beware of low friction silk sheets is my point! (They weren’t mine ok, I was a guest in a cold remote Kiwi forest cabin house. I’d always go for cotton.)

Seriously though, mass action these days can take many forms, and it is not for a Jane McAlevy to tell us it has to be a Union. I love Jane, and agree with everything in her writings and work, except the “Tax Payer Funded” myth. It is bad enough that it almost puts here in my basket of Untouchables. But she was stickingto worker organizaiton so much that I cannot recall her parroting this myth … much … as in I’d not know where to find her quoting Thatcher & Reagan Positively! That’s to her credit: upon that which you are ignorant (about fiscal policy space) it is best to remain silent, and she seems to have by instinct done that. She stuck firmly to community organizing, and hardly ever strayed from that Straight Path. This is the Way.

Tips on Improving Your Writing Like an MMT Dirtbag

I love dressing up my keyboard (figuratively) for the wordplays. To in good humour use a fellow leftipol’s bitterness in a positive way, you can refer to their weak points as a sickness, hecnemy “grumbinitus” above. I love Grumbine, and at one time thought of writing a “Journal of Very F∗cking Important Macroeconomics B∗tches!” for his RealProgressive outlet. Instead I gave them free licence to copy all my Ōhanga Pai articles, but sadly they did not take up the offer.

Giving modern or philosophical quirks the weight of a heavy, Latinate medical diagnosis is a great way to be witty. It’s weak Ben Elton stuff, but occasionally I can even make myself 🤣.

Custom Wordplay Ideas

To help you build your custom activist illness & malady diagnoses … beyond the “-isms”, let’s look at what these actual suffixes mean in medical terminology, followed by some pre-made wordplay combinations you can drop into conversation.

  • -itis (or -itus): In medicine, this means inflammation or swelling of an organ or tissue (e.g., bronchitis, sinusitis). In wordplay, it perfect for describing an acute flare-up of a specific behavioral trait or an obsession that has swollen out of control.
  • -uenza: Derived from influence (originally referring to the celestial or cosmic influence that caused epidemics like influenza). In wordplay, this is perfect for an infectious mindset or a cultural trend that someone has “caught” from an influential figure or group.

Examples:

  • Ronald Fisheritus = incapable of thinking about causation.
  • Nietzscheuenza = too up-yourself to be humble when needed. Or so self-important and awesome you do not even need Nihilism to become your own God.
  • For personal attributes, use -hood. Here are a few ready-made “diagnoses” built around a theme that you can use alongside Affluenza, Ronald Fisheritus and Nietzscheuenza:
SuffixExample Coined TermDiagnostic Definition
$\text{\tt{}itis}$LinkedInitisAn acute swelling of professional ego, usually presenting as over-sharing mundane life lessons as “deep business insights.”
$\text{\tt{}itus}$AlgorithmitusThe complete breakdown of personal taste; an inability to choose a movie, song, or meal without consulting a recommendation engine.
GadgetitusAn obsessive inflammation of the wallet, compelling the patient to buy the “Pro” version of every tech release despite only using it for email.
$\text{\tt{}uenza}$MachiavelluenzaA highly contagious social condition where a person treats basic friendships and office politics like high-stakes tactical chess.
AuruenzaA modern affliction caught from social media, causing the patient to constantly calculate how much “aura” or cool points they lose or gain from everyday actions.
$\text{\tt{}head}$WolframheadAlso “computerhead”. Someone who thinks the cosmos is a giant computer, miraculously programmed by Itself, while also not believing in miracles.
$\text{\tt{}hood}$GödelhoodHas the inherent dual property of severe nerdiness and severe paranoia.
RamanajanhoodHas a Friendship with something abstract, to the point of seeming mystical in insight. Srinivasa Ramanujan = “Friend of the Integers”. If you are enough of a Friend of MMT you might have the metaphysical property of Moslerhood (which means you will Net be a pretty good person — in-the-macro — despite your normie politics outlook).

Pro-Tip for Coining Your Own: If the name ends in a hard consonant (like Kant), adding -itis works beautifully (Kantitis = an inflammation of rigid, unbreakable personal rules). If it ends in a vowel or a soft sound, -uenza often flows better.

Practical Results:

At Xmas dinner once to celebrate not believing in Jesus, and laughing with disdain at folks who believe in God (my side of the family) like regular Richard Dawkinsheads, I once used ‘affluenza’ to describe my in-Laws, and to their faces while eating cranberry sauce on turkey. They are landlord rentier you see, and were complaining over a turkey meal about house prices.

Eventually I got kicked out of their “family.” Success! 🤣

Use Unicode whenever Possible

I have a “thing” about endash, emdash, minus. since they are all different, you should use them! endash is the default “-” on your keyboard. emdash = u2014, minus = u2012. For non-break space u 00A0. Thin nbsp = u202f, which you use between a number and it’s units, like 33 kg. On GNU+Linux to enter unicode entry mode use Ctrl + u, then type to code, then Enter.

Font Play

Have open a tab in your browser while writing to yaytext.com/ or vibeberry.io/text/font-generator/cursive . For the often-used ones use a Notes app in your taskbar. On GNU+Linux (xfce4) I like Xpad but your favourite desktop will have an equivalent. Xfce4 is marvellous, too easy to customize that you end up spending almost a whole work day (4 hours dude 🤣) on a fresh distro install! But the Meta + Fn key combos tile the screen nicely when you want, floating windows when you need. Perfect. (A Tiling WM is bondage.)

Here’s a little peek at one of my xpad’s:

emojis_and_unicode

Like Chinese Han Yu, Unicode is only my third language, and I still haven’t mastered my second languages (Python, SageMath, Maxima, C++, Nim and Julia). And C++ has rotted in my brain, it is now compost. I hold onto Nim like some people might hold to Blisssymbols . Can you intuit this pictograph?

blisssymbols
“I want to go to the cinema.”

Footnotes:

(1)   Or even just so poor in relative terms — though one’s bank account might have stashes of government scorepoints.
(2)   Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
